Welcome to Friday Sketches. This week I'm reveling in spring which has arrived in all its glory and I don't even know where to begin with sketching. There is so much beauty around me right now it's a little overwhelming.
It is important to me to get out with my sketchbook as much as possible and scribble. My quick sketches are not elegant, and certainly not very good, but my sketchbook is not about perfection, it is about process.
Sketching helps me sharpen my observation skills, a vital part of being an artists. Many people shy away from quick sketches because they thing they are not good, but they don't get it! It's not about being good, it's about doing it.
That's why I started Friday Sketches. I want to encourage as many people as possible to get out with a sketchbook, not a phone or a camera, but a sketchbook. And only those who try it will understand why it is so important.
Here are some wonderful sketches from the participants of Friday Sketches - Week 11.
