Twinkling Sketchbook Play

Over in the Artist's Play Room this week, we are exploring shadow.

With that in mind, I decided to start playing around in my sketchbook with Twinkling H2O's.

My sketchbooks are my sanctuary.

Sometimes you don't need a fanfare when you create.

You just need to splash some color around and make shapes with your pen.

You need to just let yourself fall into the process of swiping a brush over the page.

You need to scribble and doodle for no reason at all.

Sometimes there is no purpose to sketchbook art beyond filling a page with color and line.

Sometimes it's just an overwhelming need to hold a paint brush.

It's the process of making  a page come alive with color and depth that can be the catalyst to great art.

Sketchbooks are vital to creative fitness.

And if you're unhappy with what you have created, then simply turn the page and start again.

That's the beauty of art.

Thanks for checking in xx

  3. Hi Dion. I enjoyed reading this post. Thank you for introducing me to Inktense pencils (I'm currently working thru your watercolor pencil online workshop) - they are amazing. Now I can see that I'll need to get hold of some twinkling H2Os... the effect they create are stunning! :)

  10. I am with Tracey, this is a wondrous BEautimous riot of colour!!

It is also intriguing how you've put the post together. This is what I so love about collage, the stages it goes through [if I'd take the time to photograph the process] in BEcoming what it turns into BEing.

Once again, though, I must say I am undone at the gorgeosity of your work. It's so NOT my style or bent, yet I simply lose myself in it as a much satisfied observer...

All that you have shared is generous and inspiring. So VERY glad I got back here this morning to see it!!!

    1. Hi Deb,

The best place to get Twinkling H2O's is directly from Luminarte. They're super fast shipping and they have ALL the colors.

      www.dreamingcolor.com

Or you can get a limited selection at Hobby Lobby.
