I've been very fortunate over the years to have been offered several commissions. Not all of them I accept. It depends on my frame of mind, where I am in life, and what is going on for me, but some I do.
Painting a commission carries some measure of stress, but it is quite the experience, working within somebody's vision not my own, hoping that your creation will connect to the visionary.
Recently I received a request for a commission from someone I have not met. The request was heartfelt and thoughtful, and I was immediately drawn to this person's vision.
After some discussion, emails back and forth etc., I knew exactly what I would paint. My creative approach felt right, and somehow I knew that there was a connection between this person and what I was going to paint for them.
It's a small work, 6" x 8" canvass in Silks Acrylic Glaze and Ink. Once it was complete I was thrilled. I stepped back from the painting and I felt instantly calm. It was a simple and elegant representation of my patrons vision, and I only hoped they like it!
Yes they did. They were overjoyed with it and now "Dragonfly's Kiss" is home.
Thanks for checking in xx
