When I can't get into my studio, I always have a small set of watercolor pencils and a black pen with me. That way, as I watch my kids play, or wait for dinner to cook, I can scribble away in my sketchbook with simplicity and ease.
This summer, I've been spending every morning at our local swimming pool while my 6yo has been taking swimming lessons, and while she swims, I've enjoyed sketching images around the pool with watercolor pencils & ink.
I thought I would share with you some of my 'en plein air' sketches from my summer of poolside observation, from the backyard of our new home, and from my kitchen table.
I've been focusing on watercolor pencils this summer because I like to keep myself focused for my online class Watercolor Pencil Workshop which ends this week. It's been an amazing class, filled with amazing people. We've had the most delightful time sharing, talking, laughing, sketching, and painting.
I've been in awe at the energy and talent of these participants. They come from all walks of life, from all over the world and I have to say it's been an honor and a privilege teaching this class.
Their willingness to share so much of themselves and their processes has been truly humbling. In the coming weeks I'll be sharing some of their amazing work with you.
Watercolor Pencil workshop will be running again in the fall, you can add the class to your wishlist via Joggles.com and they will notify you when it opens for registration. Just click here.
I'm now turning my mind to my treasured Twinkling H2O's. My online class Mastering Twinks is in it's second week and it too, is loads of fun. Registration remains open, and as the class is delivered by eBook, you will have no trouble catching up. If you'd like to join the twinkling, shimmering fun, click here.
