It's just smART Business

I love it when the mail comes and it’s not just bills.  I finally got my much anticipated copy of Laura Trevey’s book “smART Business”. She calls it an inspirational guide for artists and crafters, and without a doubt, that’s what it is.  Laura is a very talented watercolor artist and the editor of the art and design blog: Bright Bold & Beautiful.

My goodness, this woman is talented, and generous to boot.  Her book is probably the perfect place to start for what I consider…the rest of us! (artists and creatives who are considering turning our creative pursuits into some kind of business.) It is beautifully laid out in a high-gloss magazine style, filled with stunning images of her art and studio, and littered with pearls of wisdom that are packed full with common sense and logic. It’s impossible not to follow her advice and get it right.

What struck me the most was the simple and honest way she shares her experiences and how she packages it to appeal to the type of audience, like me, who is really just getting started in their entrepreneurial art adventure. Laura has successfully followed her own advice and is happy to give away her secrets.  She is a shining example of kindness, beauty, and generosity.

“smART Business”  is not a clutter, garb filled business book that needs an MBA to understand and implement.  I’m sure if you follow Laura’s advice and plug away at your dreams, then eventually you may need something more to take to you the next step of stock exchange listing, or supply chain management. But for the rest of us, this is a simple, elegant, and logical resource with checklists and examples that are really helpful. It’s the perfect resource for turning your passion for creativity into a viable and profitable artistic business.

And don’t forget, there’s only a few days left to vote in The Blog Guidebook’s, Top Blog of 2011.  Dion Dior & More is in the final five.  Click on the link above, or in the top right sidebar to cast your vote. Thanks for checking in. xx
